The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) convened a meeting on Sunday under the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to assess the rapidly developing situation in West Asia.

Members were briefed on the airstrikes carried out in Iran on 28 February and the ensuing escalation, including attacks reported in several Gulf nations. The Committee voiced deep concern over the safety and well-being of the sizable Indian expatriate population across the region.

The CCS also examined challenges faced by Indian travellers transiting through affected areas and students scheduled to appear for examinations, along with the wider impact on regional stability, trade, and economic activity.

Directing all relevant departments to take necessary and practical steps to support Indian nationals impacted by the developments, the Committee emphasized the need for an immediate de-escalation and a swift return to dialogue and diplomatic engagement.
