Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming state visit to France and Slovakia (June 13–19, 2026) is more than a diplomatic circuit; it is a calculated execution of India’s “Strategic Bridge” doctrine. By weaving together high-tech innovation in Nice, historic industrial diplomacy in Slovakia, and global governance at the G7 Summit, India is asserting its role as the indispensable link between Western capital and the aspirations of the Global South.

PM’s state visit begins in Nice, where the relationship with France—recently elevated to a Special Global Strategic Partnership—will undergo its first major review.

Startups as Diplomacy: The joint inauguration of the ‘Bharat Innovates’ event is a significant shift in bilateral priorities. By bringing together Indian startups and French Venture Capital funds during the ‘India-France Year of Innovation’, the two nations are moving beyond defense contracts toward a future defined by technological synergy.

The VivaTech Finale: This focus on the “digital frontier” concludes in Paris at the VivaTech Summit, where the Prime Minister aims to cement India’s reputation as a “global hub for innovation, digital transformation, and entrepreneurship”.

The Slovak Pivot: Opening the Central European Gateway

Perhaps the most historic leg of the journey is the State Visit to the Slovak Republic (June 14–16)—the first by an Indian Prime Minister since the country’s independence in 1993.

  • Industrial Alignment: This visit follows a year of intense engagement, including the Slovak President’s participation in India’s AI Impact Summit earlier this year.
  • Manufacturing Focus: The agenda is strictly pragmatic, targeting deep cooperation in automobile and railway manufacturing, trade, and investment. This signals India’s intent to diversify its economic footprint in Europe beyond the traditional Western powerhouses.

The G7 Summit

In Evian, the Prime Minister’s participation in the G7 Summit from June 16–17 highlights India’s status as a “leading voice of the Global South”.

The AI Mandate: India is positioning itself as a central player in the “safe, rapid, and efficient rollout of AI,” ensuring that the digital revolution does not leave developing nations behind.

In addition to tech, the Prime Minister Modi will engage in high-level sessions on rebuilding international solidarity and reviving balanced, shared, and sustainable economic growth —a clear message that global recovery must be inclusive.
