India remains one of Rwanda’s most important economic partners, ranking as the country’s second-largest foreign investor and second-largest trading partner. Notably, a significant share of Indian investments in Rwanda originates from Gujarat, underscoring the strong and expanding economic ties between Rwanda and the state.

The Central Gujarat Conference marked the fourth regional conference under the Vibrant Gujarat initiative, following events held in Mehsana (North Gujarat) in October 2025, Rajkot (Kutch and Saurashtra) in January 2026, and Surat (South Gujarat) in May 2026. Rwanda has participated as a Country Partner in all four regional conferences, reflecting its sustained commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation with Gujarat.
The growing partnership builds on high-level engagement between the two countries, including the participation of Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January 2017 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The next edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is scheduled to be held in January 2027.
