Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended congratulatory greetings to Andy Burnham on assuming office as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

In the congratulatory tweet, it was noted by the Prime Minister that India and the UK are bound by shared democratic values and that wide-ranging cooperation is enjoyed by the two countries across trade, investment, technology, defence, and people-to-people relations. It was further pointed out that, with the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) entering into force this month, the bilateral partnership is expected to be strengthened further.

It was also stated by the Prime Minister that close cooperation with his UK counterpart is looked forward to for the further deepening of the India–UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the advancement of the shared Vision 2035. India and the UK have agreed on a new long-term roadmap, called Vision 2035, to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership over the next decade. The plan is meant to expand cooperation in trade, technology, defence, climate action, education, and people-to-people ties, while also strengthening coordination on global and regional issues.

In a post shared on X, warm congratulations were conveyed by Prime Minister Modi to Mr. Andy Burnham, while confidence was expressed that the bilateral partnership between India and the United Kingdom would be further strengthened through continued collaboration.
