NEW DELHI, Sept. 28: Kolkata will host the fifth edition of India Energy Week from Jan. 28–31, 2027, bringing together thousands of energy professionals, policymakers, investors and technology companies as India seeks to strengthen energy security while accelerating the transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy systems.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari formally announced Kolkata as the host city for India Energy Week 2027 on Monday. The event will be held at the New Town Convention Centre under the theme, “Unlocking Innovation. Securing Energy. Shaping Tomorrow.”

More than 75,000 energy professionals and 700 international exhibitors are expected to participate in the four-day event, which will be the first major global energy conclave of 2027, reads a PIB release.

Adhikari thanked Puri and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for bringing the event to West Bengal, saying a successful India Energy Week would help attract new investments, expand existing projects and create employment opportunities in the state.

The move to Kolkata marks the first time that India Energy Week will be held in eastern India, adding a new geographical dimension to the country’s flagship global energy platform.

The event is expected to provide businesses, institutions and energy stakeholders from eastern India greater access to international companies, investors and policymakers, while showcasing the region’s opportunities in the wider energy and industrial landscape.

India Energy Week has expanded significantly since its debut in Bengaluru in 2023. The fourth edition, held in Goa in 2026, brought together more than 75,000 energy professionals, over 700 exhibiting companies, participants from more than 120 countries and more than 6,500 conference delegates.

The 2027 edition will build on that international participation at a time when energy security, affordability, technology and sustainability are becoming increasingly interconnected.

India, as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, is witnessing rapidly rising energy demand. At the same time, the country is pursuing a transition toward cleaner energy sources while seeking to maintain energy affordability and reliable supplies.

These challenges are expected to form a major part of discussions at India Energy Week 2027, with participants examining technologies, investments and partnerships that can support energy security and sustainable growth, particularly across the Global South.

The conference and exhibition will cover a broad spectrum of the energy industry, including oil and gas, liquefied natural gas, refining and petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, as well as other emerging technologies.

The organisers said the event will provide a platform for stakeholders across the hydrocarbon and wider energy value chain to showcase innovations, forge partnerships, discuss investment opportunities and explore solutions to emerging challenges.

The international profile of India Energy Week has also grown with successive editions. At the 2026 edition, 17 ministers and deputy ministers from countries including the United Arab Emirates, Canada, the Netherlands, Oman, Brunei, Myanmar and Tanzania participated.

International organisations, including the International Energy Forum, BIMSTEC and the Eurasian Economic Union, also took part.

Their participation reflected the increasingly interconnected nature of global energy markets, where governments and companies are dealing simultaneously with questions of energy security, investment, technology, affordability and the energy transition.

The Kolkata edition is expected to continue that engagement while giving eastern India a larger role in the global energy dialogue.

India Energy Week is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and is organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry (FIPI), with Informa Markets as the conference organiser.

The organisers said IEW 2027 will seek to bring government leaders, industry executives, investors and innovators together to advance collaboration and investment toward a secure, sustainable and affordable energy future.

The four-day event will be held at the New Town Convention Centre in Kolkata from Jan. 28–31, 2027.
